THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FIRM

Together with optimising the current activities of the firm (see OPTIMISING THE PROCESS OF VALUE ADDITION) the strategic orientation of the firm is, of course, of crucial importance for its success on a market which has become more and more competitive. Changes in both economy and society require prompt reactions. Therefore the following topics are of importance:

  • alternative organisational structures,

  • new markets and fields of activity,

  • retreating from present unprofitable fields of activity or markets,

  • strategic alliances

  • corporate culture

These are only a few of the many questions we should ask ourselves.

When working out new perspectives as well as putting strategies into practice, support by an external consultant will very often be valuable. See above: "Beware of blindness!". Furthermore many "sticky" situations in a firm can be resolved more easily by someone from outside.
